Hawks clarifies reports on SAA investigation

The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, the Hawks, has dismissed reports that it is investigating South African Airways (SAA) chairperson Dudu Myeni.

However, the directorate has confirmed that it is investigating illegal activities at the airline. These include alleged theft, fraud and corruption involving contracts, agreements, tenders, procurement and the irregular closure of SAA routes in Senegal, India and Beijing,

The investigation is also set to scrutinise allegations of sabotage and irregular use of private investigators to spy and solicit confidential information with a view to undermining operations and safety of passengers.
