As the Brexit debate drags on, the final outcome is anyone’s guess.
But with a “hard Brexit” becoming more and more likely, there’s good news for citrus exporters.
According to Justin Chadwick, CEO of the Citrus Growers’ Association, under such a scenario for exporters supplying citrus to the UK all citrus tariffs will reduce to zero. “Citrus fruit exported from South Africa would thus enter the UK at 0% duty throughout the year,” he said.
