Growing in tandem with West Africa

“WHEN SAFMARINE set up its multi-purpose (MPV) division in 2000, the line accurately predicted a renewed interest in the shipping of breakbulk cargo, particularly to oil-rich West Africa as countries such as the USA explored new sources of energy,” says Safmarine’s Albert Pegg. The MPV division – which handles the shipment of both containerised and breakbulk cargo – has grown from a two-vessel operation in 2000 to a current 17-strong fleet, and there are further expansion plans in the pipeline.
