THE AFRICAN market has started to grow, confirms Steve Koch, Latin America, Africa & Middle East vice president and managing director of General Motors South Africa. Speaking at the South African AutomotiveWeek, Koch said before 2002 GM had experienced a flat market in Africa. The market has since started to improve, by more than doubling volumes. Between 2003 and 2006 Kenya showed growth of 10.4% and Egypt 88.9%. South Africa showed the largest growth of 118.5%. The company has 27 markets in Africa with a 13.8% share of the market.
