Global investment in renewable energy reaches all time high

Renewable energy investment surged US$329.3 billion for 2015 – a 4% increase compared to 2014 - on the back of emerging market growth, according  to the Bloomberg New Energy Finance report published yesterday (Thursday).

Investment in South Africa contributed US$4.5 billion to the global figure, up 329% from the 2014 figures.

Chairman of the Bloomberg New Energy Finance  advisory board, Michael Liebreich, said in a statement: “These figures highlight the improving cost-competitiveness of solar and wind power.”
