'Give rail a chance'

The true state of South Africa’s rail network seems to be a well-kept secret, says Quattro Freight MD Kriba Naiken. “Rail has improved dramatically over the past few years and is gradually proving to be a reliable mode of transport,” he told FTW. Naiken said more mining commodities were being moved by rail as the service continued to improve. “We have successfully migrated the movement of 35000 tons of chrome to rail and are planning to up that to 60 000 tons within the next few months because of the efficient and costeffective service that we are getting from Transnet Freight Rail.”
