THE GOOD Hope Express is unperturbed by Maersk Line's decision to go it alone on the Far East route, bringing to an end its slot charter agreement with GEX.
The slot charter served its purpose, but it no longer suits both sides, GEX member NYK's Jerry Hookins told FTW.
In the interim, the Ipanema is being renamed the Norsul Ipanema and the Maersk Cape Town was last week renamed the Norsul Icarai
GEX in its new frame now comprises six NYK vessels, three CSAV, two Norsul and one Quadrant.
And Hookins is delighted with the additional capacity which Maersk's departure will provide.
Norsul will purchase slots on a straight slot purchase basis until their vessels phase in which is likely to be soon.
