German flights still in the air after strike is called off

The cabin crew strike at German national carrier, Lufthansa, has been called off after progress was made with management over retirement and pension benefits.

The cabin crew union, UFO, on Monday threatened to hold further walkouts from today (Thursday). The union said in a statement issued on Wednesday that the planned strike would not go ahead as agreements had been reached on certain negotiations.

Further mediation is planned for next week.
