Funds support skills development

Terry Gale, chairman of the Exporters Club Western Cape (ECWC), hands over a cheque for R5 000 to recruitment specialist, Lee Botti, for the Ithuba Project. The funds were raised by the ECWC during its annual dinner/dance event last year. The Ithuba Project is the brainchild of Botti who is also the managing director of Lee Botti & Associates. It equips students from disadvantaged backgrounds with the necessary skills and know-how to enter the job market. The students are taught several valuable skills – from identifying opportunities to drawing up CVs. Accepting the cheque, Botti said that with so few trainee jobs available it was essential that young children were given the best possible opportunities to enter the competitive employment environment. “They all want to be winners and they don’t actually know where to start. We try to change that,” she said. CAPTION Terry Gale (Exporters' Club) and Lee Botti (Lee Botti & Associates). Photo: Halden Krog
