JAMES HALL FROM A rhino to more mundane but urgently transport requirements, shippers have come to rely on the multi-tasking that is the trademark of Kingfisher Freight Services. As a licensed customs clearing agent the company will submit all import, export, warehousing and in-transit documentation to Customs for any mode of transport, while its packing facility handles crating, boxing, palletising, shrink-wrapping, container stuffing and dangerous goods packing. Goods can be accommodated at its 15 000m2 warehouse for free cargo with 4 000m2 for bonded cargo, including special high-security areas for sensitive goods. Additional warehousing space is available for long-term storage. “On the logistics front, we are affiliated with Global Logistics Associates, a worldwide organisation of independents,” said managing director Alwyn Nel, who was re-elected as GLA president in April. Regional forwarding is another specialty. On a daily basis, the company processes both airfreight and sea freight traffic – full loads and consolidations – for onward transport by rail and road to several countries in the Southern Africa region. Certified in the handling of dangerous goods, Kingfisher has the necessary infrastructure for storage, labelling, handling and packing such cargo. Collection and delivery services are available in all of South Africa’s major centres, with its portfolio extending to insurance, pre-inspection arranged through companies like SGS or ITS, and perishable cargo handling that offers cold room storage and special packaging.
