Jet fuel now represents 33% of airlines’ operating budget, International Air Transport Association (Iata) chief executive, Tony Tyler, told delegates at the Aviation Fuel Forum in Berlin last week. “In recent weeks we have seen some easing of prices, nevertheless they remain worryingly high when measured against historical averages,” he added. Tyler told delegates that safety, supply reliability and efficiency should be Iata members’ most important priorities when it comes to fuel.
