Maritime Africa, including Maritime &Coastal Security Africa (MCSA) 2015, scheduled to take place in Cape Town earlier this week was cancelled at the last minute – without notification to many of the delegates.
Organisers said they had no choice but to cancel the event with immediate effect after permit approval to host the exhibition in terms of the National Conventional Arms Control Act 41 of 2002 had not been granted.
“We have exhausted all available avenues to try and resolve this matter,” reads a notice on the website.
It is not clear why permit approval was not granted. Speaking to FTWonline on Monday, organisers would not divulge any further information around the cancellation or the reasons why, but confirmed that the event would take place next year but without the security component.
