French air traffic controllers join nationwide strike

Several unions of air traffic controllers have joined the national public workers’ strike in France today (Tuesday).

The strike action is in protest against changes to the country’s labour laws and will affect domestic air traffic.

Air France has announced that it will continue to transport customers on its long-haul network to and from Paris – including Charles de Gaulle and Orly Airports. However, 25% of its domestic flights have been cancelled.

Qatar Airways noted that flights to and from Charles de Gaulle Airport would be subject to delay or cancellation.

UK airline EasyJet has already cancelled a number of it flights to and from France.

“As a large percentage of EasyJet’s flights fly over France, this will have an impact on our flights to and from French airports, as well as those flying over French airspace,” said an EasyJet spokesperson.
