Forwarders lend a hand to bring in book donations from US

THERE'S BEEN plenty of support from locally-based freight companies in bringing in batches of text books donated by US benefactors to the Mandela Children's Fund, according to Johannesburg attorney, Nathan Mendelow who has been driving the book programme for three years.
The latest report is that
a combine of Grindrod International Freight and Danzas staff members have just organised a door-to-door delivery of two 20 foot
(6 metre) containers containing some 80 000 much-needed text books for deprived schools in the Fund's list of deserving beneficiaries.
This follows free seafreight of book consignments by Lykes Lines - a donation organised by an executive of ships agency Mitchell Cotts.
We have also had similar help from Renfreight in past years, said Mendelow.
