TOYOTA FORKLIFT Cape Town achieved record unit sales last year and a target of close to 40% of the market share, according to Cape Townbased sales manager Richard Cox. “Much of this success must be ascribed to expansion of the existing basket of equipment and services,” says Cox. “We are now able to offer clients forklift batteries and battery bay solutions through our newly-launched company, Imperial Power. The FMX 2006, a forklift fleet and driver management tool used to manage driver behaviour, productivity and highlight safety aspects of a forklift, has proved to be a huge success with fleet owners.” In addition, Toyota Cape Town has introduced the JCB Teletruck, a more sophisticated and highly industrialised counterbalanced forklift truck and plans to expand the range as well as start a generator division. “In terms of group sales and volumes, we executed a total of 2 915 new deliveries last year, representing approximately 40% of market share, and aim at achieving the 50% mark by 2010,” says Cox. Cape Town has exceeded its targets with 519 new deliveries into the Western Cape market and is forecasting continued growth in 2008 despite the current economic climate. “One of our big successes has been the launch of the highly anticipated Toyota 8 Series IC range of forklifts,” he adds. “We firmly believe that given our strong rental fleets and highly qualified technicians and support team, along with flexible financing and maintenance packages, we will continue to meet our objectives,” concludes Cox.
