A NEW joint-venture company has been formed largely consolidating the SA flexitank market.
Trans Ocean Distribution (TOD) of Bermuda and the locally-based Seatrans Shipping have joined forces in SA in a 50/50 joint venture.
The new company is operating from offices in Cape Town under the Seatrans Shipping banner providing a bulk liquid logistics service in the region.
It will be managed by Terry Kelly and Hugh Rowan, former owners of Seatrans Shipping in its cc format.
"With immediate effect all new and existing regional business will be handled by the Seatrans Shipping joint-venture," Kelly told FTW.
However, flexitank manufacturer Seatrans Manufacturing - wholly owned by Kelly and Rowan - will remain independent.
"Included in this agreement was a technological exchange which will facilitate the manufacture of new generation recyclable flexitanks in Cape Town," said Kelly.
Production of this equipment has just started. "It will be distributed locally and exported to meet the needs of TOD's worldwide demand," Kelly said.
