Export award adds design element

In recognition of Cape Town being named World Design Capital for the year 2014, the Cape Chamber of Commerce has added an award for excellence in design to the annual Exporter of the Year competition. Announcing the new feature at a meeting of the Exporters’ Club Western Cape in the Mother City last week, Zaida Jackson, vice president of the Cape Chamber of Commerce, said it was intended to highlight the innovation and creativity of exporters in the province while also showcasing their abilities at a national level. “Through this award, which is being sponsored by the South African Maritime Safety Association (Samsa), we are also celebrating the city’s status as the design capital of the world,” she said.
