THE APPOINTMENT of Diamond Shipping
Services, a Sharaf Group Company, as ship’s
agent for Zim Lines is expected to see an
expansion of Zim’s services in Mozambique,
according to Simon Fellingham, head of Sharaf
and Diamond in Mozambique.
“Zim Lines has been servicing Nacala and
Beira using existing feeder services along the
coast but is planning to increase its regional
fleet from three to four vessels in order to
accommodate the growing market from these
two ports,” says Fellingham, “with Maputo a
future possibility.”
“In addition an island “hopper” is
under consideration to meet the growing
demand,” he says. Sharaf / Diamond has
recently opened branch offices in the ports
of Nacala and Beira to complement its head
office in Maputo.
