KEVIN MAYHEW
ROSSBURGH-BASED Tristar celebrated the seventh year of its short haul container trucking solutions within the Durban area by introducing eight new horses to its fleet, which now comprises 33 horses and 45 trailers.
Although one of the youngest, it is presently the largest privately-owned company in Durban. It is also the only one in the port city which offers staging services.
Director Philip Padayachee says its shorthaul service and temporary storage facilities for regular and reefer containers has been popular because they offer solutions to bigger and smaller companies. They also hold containers temporarily when delivery points are too busy to offload to reduce down time for its vehicles.
The company is getting its vehicles AV registered to transport reefer containers and avoid fines due to overloading. Tristar is very sensitive to overloading having been inadvertently involved in a case of excessive overloading due to incorrect documentation supplied by a shipping line.
“For the mix of clients we are willing to service, we can honestly say that Durban will continue to expand and we will along with it,” he said.
In this issue of FTW Tristar is using an innovative marketing technique, distributing a CD of its services attached to the cover of this Durban feature.
