Evergreen adds S America transhipment option

EVERGREEN HAS just launched a transhipment service to the West Coast of South America with very competitive transit times, according to Anton de Marillac, marketing & sales g.m. of local agents, Green Africa Shipping. This, he told FTW, is linked to the launch of the line's new "PWS" service, the first sailing of which will take place this month (May). "The four vessels on this weekly service link Evergreen's Caribbean hub port in Panama with Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Chile on the West Coast of South America. "Connections will be provided with Evergreen services to and from Europe, North America and Asia, and for SA shippers and importers, the cargoes will be transhipped through the Far East." Evergreen has appointed three new South American agents - in Ecuador, Peru and Chile - to cope with the new service. "We like to believe that freight rates and service to-and-from the West Coast of South America will be competitive, especially for exporters, when compared to other existing services."
