Europe is investing millions of euros into reducing road congestion through the Marco Polo initiative. Logistics and transport companies “across Europe” have been invited to propose new projects to reduce road transport across the continent, with the Marco Polo initiative having a Є65 million war chest to implement the most innovative ideas. Marco Polo is an EU funding programme for freight transporters, shippers and logistic operators to switch to more environmentally sustainable forms of transport such as shortsea shipping, rail and inland waterways.
