Ethiopian Airlines has added Juba (South Sudan), Bamako (Mali), Lusaka (Zambia) and Ebb (Uganda) to its freighter schedule, operating a B757F on the routes. The airline currently serves Addis Ababa, Lusaka, Abuja, Kinshasa, Brazzaville, Harare, Lagos, Kilimanjaro, Bujumbura and Kigali. “ET operates dedicated B777F/MD11F aircraft three times a week out of Johannesburg on days 4, 6 and 7 and the aircraft are available for either full or part charters on the back of the scheduled inbound freighters,” Mario Turketti, business executive for cargo GSSA, Aero-Link Consulting, told FTW. “There has been a significant improvement in the recent challenges which Ethiopian Airlines has faced – specifically transit times, reliability of service and feedback,” says Turketti. “Improvements in these areas have directly translated into an improved service and increased volumes,” he added. In order to better serve the local market, ex-pat Kefelegn Teshome has now been stationed in South Africa and will be working in conjunction with Aero- Link.
