September 1 saw the official launch of the Eswatini Revenue Authority’s (SRA) national electronic tariff platform.
Its implementation was made possible thanks to funding from the WCO and the European Union under the EU-WCO Programme for the Harmonized System in Africa.
WCO Secretary General Dr Kunio Mikuriya – one of several dignitaries who attended the virtual launch - said that as complexities inherent in the regulatory landscape of international trade and Customs were set to increase further, efficient solutions based on cutting edge technology were crucial to ensure that traders had reliable access to all the information needed in order to plan and carry out trade transactions.
The many challenges related to Covid-19 made the need for digitalisation in Customs even more critical and the case for electronic tools stronger.
