Emirates adds another 'first'

WHEN AN Emirates Airbus A330-200 took off from Manchester Airport in the north of England on Monday, February 5 it not only gave the airline another 'first' to add to its honours list, but also helped local charities.
Emirates was the first airline to use Manchester's new second runway which was built at a cost of R1,75 billion, and is the first new airport runway to be built in the United Kingdom for more than 20 years.
To mark the opening of the runway the airport asked airlines that serve Manchester to submit bids for charity. Emirates offer of R250 000 clinched the deal.
