Electronic solutions are the foundation on which the modern-day forwarding industry is built, according to Jan Ludolph, MD of Geodis Wilson. “That’s the valueadded element upon which the forwarding industry continuously focuses.” he told FTW. “It is only with a comprehensive and flexible range of electronic solutions that we can expect to have the necessary transparency in the supply-chain and assist our clients.” It’s also the most efficient way all the members of the market – cargo owners and service providers – can talk and transfer the necessary information. “It’s vital to be continually in electronic touch with clients,” said Ludolph, “and maintain an on-going interface with them for purposes of purchase order management and cargo tracking.” And electronically keeping up-to-speed is the everyday challenge for forwarders. There is a wide range of systems around the globe, and companies need to keep compatibility to the forefront of their minds, according to Ludolph. “There are also a number of keywords that have to be achieved,” he added, “like realtime, global visibility, control towers, milestones, and of course user-friendly.” Does he think that Geodis Wilson has the solutions? “Of course we do,” Ludolph said.
