'Electronic' shippers grow

THE MOVE into Internet technology has proved a winner for the container line P&O Nedlloyd.
Amongst the popular features, according to line management, are the up-to-the-minute sailing information; the SA port stack dates; rates requests; and on-line quotations. Just added is a question and answer feature, with customer access to the recently installed track-and-trace facility already gaining plaudits from users.
There has been a remarkable growth in the number of hits to our local website, said P&ON's Wim Lagaay, with a 232% increase from November last year to this April.
We are also happy to see that freight and cargo industries have been visiting the website - a good indication that these industries are increasingly receptive to the new era of e-business.
