EL appoints first female harbour master

EAST LON DON has scored another S outh African first with the appointment of N ontsi Tshazi as harbour master. It is the first time a woman has held this position in Africa. She follows in the footsteps of N osipho Damisani who became E ast London’s port manager eight years ago before taking up the position of head of S A Port Operations in the Eastern Cape. Tshazi was E ast London port marine operations manager until this month when she moved into her new position. S he was also among the first batch of S outh Africans who were trained as marine pilots. S he takes over in her new position from Denis Ncwadi who has been transferred to Richards Bay.
