REQUIREMENTS for dry goods warehousing and cold storage space have changed little over the past few years but a feature in this day and age is fierce competition and service levels to match, says Anthea van Breemen, marketing executive of Macro 2000. “With some stores running to capacity and new additions each year to meet demand, the ideal way to maintain customer service levels is by having in place a good, functional warehouse management package.” She points out customer demands are becoming more exacting and sophisticated, given that they seek instant formation on stock within a store. “One of Macro 2000’s customers was alerted to this after losing a major client, but managed to win it back by implementing our warehouse management software. “Their customer is now e-mailed a copy of every goods receipt voucher, goods issue voucher and a daily stock report, on top of the distinct future possibility of calling off stock via the internet.” Van Breemen asserts the system also offers timely and accurate invoicing and is capable of handling complex charge-out rates negotiated for clients.
