East Rand warehouse will provide hub for sea and air

Early next year Katlego Global Logistics will add a further 5 000 m2 of warehousing capacity on the East Rand. While no firm decision has been made on the exact location, MD Moses Maboi confirmed last week that he was looking at properties close to the airport. “The plan is to set up a distribution centre for sea and airfreight imports and exports,” says Maboi. Part of the motivation has been a decision by four clients to outsource their warehousing to Katlego. “We’ll do import unpacking and export packing in the warehouse and have increased our guarantees to cater for more import cargo,” said Maboi. Part of the import growth has flowed from Katlego’s membership of the worldwide GFP network, an international agency grouping for which Katlego is the sole African representative. “It’s worked well for us, resulting in additional revenue from sales leads which have enabled us to grow our business.”
