An Electronic Tariff Book
One of the most
frequently-asked questions is:
“What is the rate of customs
duty of my product?” For this
you need to know its tariff
classification – in other words
its Harmonised System tariff
code, also know as its tariff
heading or tariff subheading.
Once you have this, then the
exercise is simple enough
– looking up the rate of duty.
For those who may be
unaware, an electronic Tariff
Book is available on the Cargo
Info website – "http://www.
cargoinfo.co.za" Next time you
need a tariff classification, this
is the place to start.
Invitation to become an ITAC
Commissioner
The Minister of Trade
and Industry has invited
nominations for a full-time
Deputy Chief Commissioner
and part-time Commissioners
for ITAC.
ITAC comprises a full-time
Chief Commissioner, a full-time
Deputy Chief Commissioner
and no more than 10 other
Commissioners who are either
appointed to serve on a
full-time or part-time basis.
Nominations close on
30 May 2008.
