Tariff amendments - 28 March 2002
The European Union (EU) rates of duty on certain beverages, classifiable under tariff headings 22.04, 22.05 and 22.06, are amended with retrospective effect to 1 January 2000. The tariff headings relate to amongst other wines and other fermented beverages i.e. cider, perry and mead, as well as non-alcoholic beverages.
The provisional anti-dumping duties imposed on 8 February 2002 on ropes and cables, of stranded wire or steel, classifiable under tariff subheading 7312.10, imported from or originating in China, Republic of Korea, United Kingdom, Germany and India has been amended to exclude stranded wire of stainless steel. The amendment has retrospective effect to 8 February 2002.
The imposition of final anti-dumping duties on woven fabrics containing 85 per cent or more by mass of acrylic or modacrylic staple fibres, classifiable under tariff subheading 5512.29, originating in or imported from China and Turkey used in the manufacture of blankets.
Provision, in terms of 460.11/5512.29/01.06 and 460.11/5512.29/02.06, is made for a rebate of the anti-dumping duty on woven fabrics containing 85 per cent or more by mass of acrylic or modacrylic staple fibres, for the manufacture of goods other than blankets.
Tariff application - Response due
The proposed reduction in the rate of duty on miniaturised non-linear fluorescent lamps, commonly known as compact fluorescent light bulbs, classifiable under tariff subheading 8539.39.90, from 15% ad valorem to free of duty. Response due April, 26.
