E-mail: riaan@importsolutions.co.za ITAC Requires Declaration for SIPC Collection The International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa (ITAC) has introduced a new provision relating to the collection of a Special Import Permit Certificate (SIPC) for the quota allocation under the South Africa and Chinese Memorandum of Understanding. In instances where the South African importer is not able to collect the SIPC in person, a declaration needs to be signed in which a designated person is authorised to collect the permit on the importer’s behalf. Memorandum of Understanding with China The import of 31 tariff lines from the People’s Republic of China as listed as an Annexure to the Memorandum of Understanding and will be administered in accordance with the volumes specified in this Annexure. Tariff Amendments – 15 September 2006 A refund provision has been created for the importation of light motor vehicles using Productive Asset Allowance (PAA) certificates, similar to the rebate provision under Rebate Item 460.17/87.03.
