E-mail: riaan@importsolutions.co.za Sunset Review on Frozen Chicken Meat In the Government Gazette of 16 September 2005 ITAC announced the initiation of a sunset review of the anti-dumping duties on frozen meat of fowls of the species Gallus Domesticus cut in pieces with bone-in originating in or imported from the United States of America (USA). Readers will recall that a sunset review is initiated prior to the imposition of anti-dumping duties for a period of five (5) years. Following a process of the verification of the SACU manufacturers – essentially Rainbow Chicken, and Earlybird - importers’ and exporters’ information, ITAC determined that although the expiry of anti-dumping duties would likely lead to the recurrence of dumping from the USA, the expiry of the anti-dumping duties would not lead to the recurrence of material injury. Readers will recall that SACU consists of South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, and Swaziland. All interested parties are now afforded the opportunity to comment on the ITAC essential facts letter.
