E-mail: riaan@importsolutions.co.za Import Permits for Agricultural Products Companies importing animals and animal products are now required to apply for import permits in the form of normal import permits and master permits. Such permits are issued either in respect of a single consignment or for a specific period of time for more than one consignment. The costs of the permits range from R105.00 to R850.00 per permit. No Rule Amendments – 24 February 2006 No Tariff Amendments – 24 February 2006 Tariff Applications – Response Due Rebate of the duty on warp knitted fabrics of synthetic fibres used in the manufacture of peaked caps. This application replaced the rebate of the duty on narrow knitted mesh fabric of nylon or polyester used in the manufacture of peaked caps. Response due by 10 March 2006. The reduction in the rate of duty on electric arc furnace transformers, published in the name of Cape Gate has been withdrawn. It was replaced with a review of the customs duty structure of electric arc furnace transformers, published in the name of the International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa (ITAC).
