Anti-dumping amendments – 4 November Vehicle exports pick up speed ED RICHARDSON EXPORTS OF SA-manufactured vehicles are gaining momentum. According to the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa (Naamsa), export sales of South African produced vehicles for the period January to September, 2005 stood at 96 113 units – an improvement of 11 122 vehicles or 13,1% compared to the 84 991 vehicles exported during the corresponding nine months in 2004. Aggregate September, 2005 vehicle exports at 17 509 units showed an improvement of 2 818 vehicles or 19,2% compared to the 14 691 vehicles exported during the previous month of August, 2005. Naamsa says exports of vehicles are expected to “gain substantial momentum in the short to medium term”. Safmarine wins maritime award AT THE second annual Maritime Achievers Awards Ceremony in Durban recently, Safmarine won the award for “foreign–owned and locally–based maritime enterprise” from the department of transport.
