Tariff Amendments – 8 April The deletion of tariff subheading 8211.91.01 “bread, carving and similar knives, not plated with precious metal” and tariff subheading 8211.91.90 “other”, with retrospective effect to 1 January 2005. Tariff Applications – Response Closed Request for information in respect of the review of the customs tariff dispensation (duty) on wheat, wheat flour and downstream products thereof, classifiable under tariff subheadings 10.01, 11.01, 11.03, 11.04, 18.06, 19.01 and 23.02 closed on 8 April 2005. The International Trade Administration of South Africa (ITAC) will now consider all written submissions received, and forward its recommendation to the Minister of Trade and Industry for his consideration and acceptance. No Rule Amendments – 8 April Anti-dumping Application – No response due No Anti-dumping Amendments – 8 April The DTI’s Export Week – 17 to 19 May The Department of Trade and Industry will host the inaugural Export Africa exhibition, the continent’s first multi-sectoral export exhibition, from 17 to 19 May 2005 at Gallagher Estate, Midrand. According to the Department, ExportWeek is designed to provide potential, established and new exporters with the knowledge and expertise to grow their export markets. ExportWeek will showcase African exporters and manufacturers to buyers and potential trading partners from across the globe. It aims to support the vision and principles of NEPAD through building the export capacity of African companies, promoting exports to the rest of the world, and growing inter-African trade. Four workshops will be held, namely Export Market Workshops, Export Training, Special Interest Workshops, and Finance Workshops. Readers can register for these workshops now.
