THE NEW X-ray scanner at the Port of Durban’s container terminal (DCT) – designed to eventually random scan 10% of imports and exports – should be up and running shortly. Mike Poverello of SA Revenue Service (Sars) customs told FTW that the scanner had arrived at the port and was currently being configured for use. “At the same time,” he said, “our staff is being trained in its operation. “We hope to start a 30-day period of user-acceptance tests on February 25.”
