Moving with the times
is what it’s all about for
Durban’s golf school ‘Men
of the Sea’ (MOTS).
Established in the 80s
by a few captains of the
KZN shipping industry, it
revolves round being able
to socialise over a good
game of golf and a couple
of ‘cold ones’ thereafter.
But, just as the Banana
Boys have become the
Sharks in that period, so
MOTS has added teeth to
its format. The rules have
been amended to widen the
membership base to include
shipping and associated
industries; female members
are welcome; sponsors
have been brought in and
get some very focused
exposure to their target
markets; guests can now
be invited; ‘networking
opportunities’ have become
the words of the day; and
a full-scale committee has
been appointed to run the
affairs of the club.
If you wish to join this
select KZN club – and
are in the shipping and
associated industries and
have an official handicap
– then contact: Dean
Lailvaux, director of Amfi
Freight International on
(0)82 826 0728.
