Operational delays at Durban Gateway Terminal have forced Maersk to cancel a scheduled eastbound call at Port Louis, Mauritius, as the shipping line moves to protect its Far East service schedule.
In a customer advisory issued on Tuesday, Maersk said the Cezanne had been delayed in Durban by terminal equipment breakdowns and severe weather, preventing the vessel from reaching Port Louis in time for its berthing window and maintaining its onward schedule to Tanjung Pelepas, Malaysia.
"As a result, the decision has been made to omit Port Louis eastbound and protect schedule integrity into the Far East," the company said.
All Port Louis- and Indian Ocean islands-bound cargo currently at Durban Gateway Terminal will be rolled to the next available vessel in Maersk's Safari service.
Likewise, Far East-bound cargo already in Port Louis will be transferred to the next available Safari sailing.
Maersk said its booking systems would be updated to reflect the revised schedules.
