KEVIN MAYHEW DUE TO the great demand and the legal requirements, Durban-based Image Freight & Logistics has found it necessary to equip all its drivers and vehicles with valid hazardous cargo certificates. “These certificates are necessary due to the diversity of loads being transported in South Africa and neighbouring countries. These drivers are most valuable, allowing us the flexibility to collect and deliver loads, and it is in our interests to keep them both legal and well trained,” explained Image Freight & Logistics marketing manager, Vivan Govender. He said compliance equipped drivers with knowledge of accident procedures, vehicle safety equipment, identifying warning symbols, personal protective equipment and transportation documents. Drivers are kept updated through refresher courses conducted every 12 months.
