Containerlink and Matola Cargo Terminal join forces
JANUARY 2 saw the launch by Grincor's cargo and container handling division Containerlink, and Matola Cargo Terminal of Maputo, of a container export service between South Africa and Mozambique by road.
The service, which is marketed under the banner of MCT Logistics, plans to facilitate trade between the two countries by offering a regular service between customs-licensed depots.
Based 15km inland from Maputo on the national highway, Matola Cargo Terminal is the only facility catering for import cargoes entering Mozambique by road, says MCT's Philippe de Meyer.
Containerlink's depot network includes facilities in Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth.
