IF THERE'S one market trend that makes Jo-Ann Mellon, manager of Greystones Container Freight Station, happy, it's good market growth for the company's bulk-to-container pack operations.
This, she told FTW, both in the company's market share, and an overall growth in clients' export business.
With contracts that we have negotiated in the last few months, said Mellon, we can expect an upturn in volumes for the year.
I'm also positive that - with the resurgence of the Asian economies - this demand will continue to grow.
There have also been recent developments at Greystones CFS - designed to meet the increasing traffic volumes, and to streamline the flow through the facility.
One of these, said Mellon, has been the installation of a weighbridge. This will both increase the through-flow, and provide clients with an assized weight for their containers.
The company has also been extending its capabilities - moving from the normal bulk cargoes handled into breakbulk and project cargo.
We have also been enhancing our empty container yard, said Mellon. the latest addition there being a container repair workshop - built to IICL5 standards.
