AIR CARGO Partners ACP) has appointed Dawn Bailey as sales development manager for southern Africa. Bailey joined ACP last month after many years with British Airways World Cargo in Johannesburg. She will be responsible for cargo sales development on Virgin Atlantic Airways and Inter-Air, for which ACP is the general sales agent. Volumes on both airlines are growing, says ACP general manager Chris Ingall. Loads out of both Johannesburg and Cape Town on Virgin aircraft have been well above average, he said. “We’ve had a cracking start to this year. January is traditionally a quiet month after the holidays, but February figures were exceptional, and as we move into March so the bookings are heavy and looking good to kick-start what we see as a good year ahead.” One of the major features in the Virgin cargo operations has been transhipments through London of clothing destined for the United States under the Agoa agreement.
