Cape Town Container

Terminal ended its 2016

financial year on a high,

exceeding its budget by 2%.

Presenting the figures

at the Cape’s Port Liaison

Forum (PLF) recently,

representatives from

Transnet Port Terminals

(TPT) said not only had

performance exceeded

expectation for 2016 but it

was also an improvement on

the previous year.

Having budgeted for 855

615 containers for 2016, the

final figure for the 2016/2017

financial year was 875 960 –

a 2% improvement.

This was also a 3%

improvement on 2015/16

which saw the terminal

handle 848 120 containers.

According to a spokesman

for the PLF, this was a

notable achievement for

TPT in light of the ongoing

economic situation in South

Africa.
