As more and more small businesses open their doors in Cape Town, opportunities are mushrooming for systems providers who can help them grow and work more efficiently. It’s what freight IT systems provider Compu-Clearing has been doing for 30 years, says Cape Town-based Angela Saunders. While the company is headquartered in Johannesburg, extending its reach in the Western Cape remains high on the agenda. “Our Cape Town office allows us to provide our Western Cape customers with immediate access to hands-on support,” says Saunders, who believes that the two ports in the Western Cape – Saldanha coming online with several gas iron ore initiatives, and the Port of Cape Town where upgrades will enable it to handle larger vessels – offer significant opportunities for business in South Africa. “We are finding that our new online filing system, cFile, is attracting great interest in the Western Cape, as business tries to become more environmentally conscious,” she says. “We expect to see our other new development – cCloud Mobile – follow suit. All applications are powered by cCloud, our own cloud technology that has been changing the way our customers do business. The system enables them to stay in touch with their business at all times.” This means they can view whether or not their entries have been released, e-mail reports and access documents from the online filing system. “In these tough economic times, people are looking for ways to maximise human resources and to work while on the go,” says Saunders. With a positive outlook for the Western Cape industry, Saunders expects Compu- Clearing to see continued growth in this market. “It is based on the premise that our service levels must be the best. Companies work around the clock, and they need to know that when they need assistance their business partners will be there for them, even after hours or on weekends. We are not in an 8am to 5pm industry and therefore we cannot expect to only assist our clients during those hours. Being available to one’s clients at all times is imperative to success.” INSERT ‘cFile attracting great interest as business tries to become more environmentally conscious.’ CAPTION Angela Saunders … ‘helping to maximise human resources.’
