Corruption makes West Africa world's most expensive route

CORRUPT BORDER officials are piling on the costs for shippers moving goods by road through West Africa, according to a recent study by the West Africa Trade H ub (WATH), a regional trade facilitator. The report claims that road transport in West Africa is among the highest in the world because of huge unofficial payments that are often higher than those paid to official sources.
