Copper production in Zambia sees unexpected growth

Zambia recorded a 0.5% growth in copper production last year despite the industry facing falling commodity prices, changes to its tax laws and critical electricity supply shortages.

The rise in copper production is mainly due to the launch of First Quantum Minerals’ Kalumbila operations, Bloomberg news agency quoted Zambia Chamber of Mines economist Shula Jalasi-Shula as saying.
