The lag in container availability remains the biggest headache for shippers and agents and will most likely be the dominating reason for ongoing concern into 2022.
This has been revealed by a survey of 800 companies in the logistics industry.
According to the survey by Hamburg box service, Container xChange, 53% of respondents said they were not certain of securing space in the New Year.
Although finding slots is the primary reason for concern, 22% of respondents also mentioned ocean freight surcharges.
In addition to rates that have at least quadrupled during the pandemic, Covid-19 and related short-time impacts on labour were listed as a possible impediment to service efficiency by 19% of respondents.
