THE RECENTLY launched Lograc, a new flat rack for the transport of logs and timber, is offering log exporters the kind of flexibility never previously enjoyed. Marketed by the Ahrenkiel Group of Hamburg, the unit has a carrying capacity of 35 metric tons, with the dimensions of a 40 ft container unit, and is totally collapsible. "Against a background of stagnating world economies, containerised logs are providing cargo that has never before been shipped on container vessels," said Ahrenkiel Group CEO Christian Ahrenkiel. "For containers it is a totally new market."
