Container World opens new Jo’burg depot

To satisfy the need for enough container storage space to keep available stocks at a level sufficient to meet immediate market demand, container suppliers and converters, Container World, have just opened a new container depot at Chloorkop in Johannesburg. “We purchased vacant land in the middle of last year and developed the depot,” Barron Charsley, executive director of Container World told FTW. “It includes 7 000-m2 of fully paved area” The facility includes a 600- m2. workshop for container repairs and maintenance, is open from 07:00 to 19:00 and has 24-hour security. The new depot has also been geared up as a dedicated facility for assembly and repairs of Container World’s Multihouse flat-pack office solution. “It was designed to increase our stock-holding capacity to allow us to better service market demands with little to no lead time,” Charsley added, “and also to free up some space at our Spartan facility. With the space made available, Container World created 400-m2. of covered, and 1 000-m2. of uncovered, workshop space – primarily used for conversions. “With two indoor workshops and one outdoors, the total space in both facilities now allows us to have 110-TEUs in our workshops at any one time,” said Charsley.
